Homeland explained

My maternal grandmother (Teta) was displaced from her home in Ramle, Palestine, in 1948 and relocated to Ramallah in what is now the West Bank, where she met my maternal grandfather (Sido). They later immigrated to San Francisco, seeking economic opportunity and a future beyond displacement.

It was in San Francisco that my mother met the son of my paternal Irish-mixed grandparents, weaving together the lineages that shape my identity today.

I currently live and work in the San Francisco Bay Area, on the unceded ancestral homeland of the Ramaytush Ohlone people, the original inhabitants of the San Francisco Peninsula. I honor their enduring relationship to this land and support the ongoing work toward Indigenous sovereignty and self-determination.
